Cinema Daze is a project I’ve been wanting to launch for quite some time. It is my way of putting down my thoughts and words about the films I experience beyond what I was writing on Letterboxd. A good movie should leave you in a daze. It should overwhelm you and make you take time about what you just witnessed.

What you’ll find here will be a hybrid of reviews and analysis based on my experience with each film. I can’t give a concrete and static definition of what each film entry will be because I want to address each film on its own level and see where that takes me. My hope is that this is a refreshing and appreciated old school way of approaching film and providing critical analysis. This is most definitely not some place where a guy rants and raves in front of a wall of Funko pops in the hopes he pleases an almighty algorithm or tries to game SEO.

Films review here are broken down into two main categories. One is called “Now Playing”, and those are new releases I catch in a theater setting. The other is called “From the Vault” and those are films that have been released for some time, and I’m reviewing them after generally a watch at home or in a return to theaters.

My star ratings are in conjunction with how I have the films rated on my Letterboxd. Here is a breakdown of that system:

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ - Best of the Best
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 1/2 - Excellent
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ - Very Good
⭐️⭐️⭐️ 1/2 - Good
⭐️⭐️⭐️ - Decent
⭐️⭐️ 1/2 - Average
⭐️⭐️ - Below Average
⭐️ 1/2 - Meh
⭐️ - Bad
1/2 ⭐️ - Horrific

Cinema Daze is going to be what I want it to be and what I feel it should be. If that builds an audience, wonderful. If I’m writing for just myself, also wonderful. I hope you do like what you find here and how I interpret the movies I watch. I mean I should put that degree in Critical Film and Television Studies to good use, shouldn’t it?
